Announcement: Numbered Releases & A History of our Release Frequency

Home / Announcements / Announcement: Numbered Releases & A History of our Release Frequency

Hey everyone! So, if you take a look through the site’s posts starting today, you’ll notice that each release has a number to go along with it. We never numbered them in the past, but I figured I would go ahead and do that just so we can keep track of how many chapters we’ve released, that way we can celebrate various milestones.

To date, Golden Roze Scans has released a total of 400 manga chapters. This does NOT include second versions, or batch releases (unless the batch release contains new chapters). In the case where we release a volume batch with new chapters, we number each new chapter separately.
Basically, the count reflects only the first time we’ve released a chapter, as to keep our stats pure.

Some Interesting tidbits & milestones – Manga

  • Our first chapter was released on 2012-05-26, it was Chapter 0 of Devilman G (A series which we never continued)
  • We only released 2 chapters in 2012 before going on an almost 30-month hiatus between 2012-06-01 and 2014-11-20, coming back with a new site.
  • Our 100th chapter was released on 2015-12-08, it was Chapter 16 of Midnight

  • Our 400th chapter was released on 2017-06-21, it was Chapter 20 of Pink Mermaid
  • The group’s best year thus far has been 2016, with a total of 211 new chapters released that year.
  • The group’s best month thus far has been November 2015, with 31 new chapters released in that month alone.
  • The group’s anniversary is May 26th, since that’s when the group released it’s first chapter back in 2012, but in a way it almost feels more genuine to celebrate the group’s re-launch on November 20th as the true anniversary, lol.
  • By May 26th, 2015, the group had released a total of 21 chapters. The most recent being released 12 days prior, Midnight Chapter 11
  • By Nov 20th, 2015, the group had released a total of 84 chapters. The most recent being released that day, “Forest Breeding Farm” Oneshot
  • By May 26th, 2016, the group had released a total of  199 chapters. The most recent being released that day, Mememto Mori Chapter 01
  • By Nov 20th, 2016, the group had released a total of 295 chapters. The most recent being released two days prior, Full Ahead! Coco Chapter 142
  • By May 26th, 2017, the group had released a total of 394 chapters. The most recent being released a day prior, Atom – The Beginning Chapter 09

We don’t do nearly as much fansubbing as we do manga releases, but recently it’s been picking up, so I figured I would number them as well (separately from the manga numbering) and include some data about our previous releases. Batch releases obviously also don’t apply to these counts. We haven’t subtitled any movies yet, but if we do, a movie would count as 1 episode.

I’m pretty excited at the prospect of us getting more fansub projects off the ground. The only problem is actually finding translators for them… as I feel like people who can hear & comprehend spoken Japanese are more difficult to come by than those who can read & understand written Japanese. There’s also the issue of not being able to find raws very easily, especially for older series. I personally tend to prefer the process of timing & typesetting anime over the process of cleaning, redrawing, & typesetting manga.

SOME INTERESTING TIDBITS & MILESTONES – Anime

  • Our first episode was released on 2015-07-09, it was Episode 1 of Kurayami Santa
  • Kurayami Santa was the first anime series we picked up, but on either the manga or anime side of things it was also the first series (not including one-shots) that we completed, with the final two episodes being released 2015-10-04.
  • The length of time between Kurayami Santa, and our next fansub project, Jungle Emperor Leo, was from 2015-10-04 and 2017-06-18, which is roughly 20-months… which is still shorter than the 30-month hiatus the group took after it’s first two manga releases.

Anyway, We plan to continue numbering our releases from here on out. Perhaps in the future we’ll try to do special releases for milestones, and a yearly release numbers review every new year’s for anybody who’s curious about tracking our progress.
